Dip a clean finger or a straw into your drink and transfer a single drop to each test pad on the sticker. Do not dip the sticker into your glass. Observe the pads for 10 to 30 seconds: a slight color change indicates a positive result.

Adding extra alcohol to a drink is the most common way to tamper with it, and these tests can't detect it. So, make sure to always keep your drink with you and pay attention to how you feel. That's still one of the best ways to look out for yourself.
What does a negative result really mean?

It means that the specific substances the test looks for were not detected—at least not in detectable concentrations in the sample you tested.
This does NOT mean that your drink is safe. It could contain a substance in an amount below the detection limit or one that the test cannot identify.
If you notice anything unusual about the taste or appearance of your drink, or how you feel, do not drink it, regardless of what the test indicates.
Are there any drinks where the test doesn't work?

Yes, and it's important for you to know this.
Milk-based drinks, such as milk or creamy liqueurs, can yield a positive result for GHB even if they don't contain that substance.
Highly acidic drinks, such as some bitter lemon drinks or lemon concentrates, can completely mask the presence of GHB and cause a false negative.
Red wine and dark berry drinks can stain the test strips and interfere with both tests.
In these cases, the results are not reliable, whether positive or negative.
